Longwell Health FAQ’s
What type of practice is Longwell Health?
Longwell Health is a subscription-based longevity and wellness practice focused on preventative care and evidence-based lifestyle, supplement and medication interventions. Our goal is to help you optimize health, reduce risk, and support long-term well-being through a personalized approach.
Does Longwell Health provide primary care or urgent care services?
Longwell Health is generally not a replacement for traditional primary care and does not operate as an urgent care practice. We encourage all members to maintain an established primary care provider for acute illnesses, injuries, and urgent medical needs.
What happens if a new medical issue is identified?
If we identify a new or concerning medical issue during the provision of Exam Services, we can initiate treatment when indicated, or help coordinate appropriate next steps, including diagnostic testing, treatment and referrals to specialists or other healthcare providers for further evaluation and management.
Can I contact Longwell Health about an acute illness?
Yes. Dr. Cook and our team are always happy to discuss new or acute symptoms, offer guidance, and help you determine the most appropriate next steps. In some situations, we may be able to provide evaluation and treatment. For medical emergencies or medical conditions that require urgent evaluation you should contact 911 or seek immediate medical care rather than contact the office as there may be a time delay in our response.
How does Longwell Health fit with traditional medical care?
Longwell Health is designed to complement—not replace—traditional medical care. By providing Exam Services not typically covered under insurance-based models, we are able to provide more time, personalization, and proactive support to help you reach your health and wellness goals.
What is Longwell Health not?
Longwell Health is not an urgent care, emergency care, or hospital-based practice. We do not manage medical emergencies or provide after-hours emergency services. In the event of a medical emergency, clients should call 911 or seek care at the nearest emergency department.
Longwell Health is generally not a replacement for a traditional primary care provider. We encourage all members to maintain an established primary care relationship for acute illnesses, injuries, complex chronic disease management and care that falls outside the scope of our wellness-focused model.
Longwell Health is generally not an insurance-based practice. Our services are focused on the Exam Services and associated recommendations and management. While we will help coordinate testing, referrals or treatments that may be covered by insurance, coverage and payment remain the responsibility of the client and their insurance provider. In the event the practice provides such covered services, we may choose to bill your insurance provider.
Longwell Health is not designed for same-day sick visits or ongoing intensive management of complex, unstable medical conditions. Our focus is on prevention, optimization, and long-term health planning rather than reactive disease-based care.
